Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 25 July 2026. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of JanRaksh. Please read them carefully — by using JanRaksh you agree to them.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By downloading, accessing or using the JanRaksh app or website (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”) and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who can use JanRaksh

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use JanRaksh.
  • Certain features — such as posting, messaging and responding to alerts — require identity verification through UIDAI’s Aadhaar OTP.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account details up to date.

3. About the Service

JanRaksh is a community safety and civic-engagement platform that lets verified members raise emergency SOS alerts, report civic issues, request or donate blood, and join local communities. Features may change, expand or be discontinued over time.

4. Your account and verification

  • You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your login secure.
  • Verification happens through UIDAI’s official Aadhaar OTP e-KYC. We do not store your Aadhaar number — see our Privacy Policy.
  • Do not create accounts using false information, or impersonate any person or organisation.

5. Emergency SOS — important

JanRaksh’s SOS is a community-assistance feature that notifies nearby verified members. It is NOT a replacement for official emergency services.

In any emergency, always contact the official helpline (dial 112 in India) or your local authorities first. JanRaksh does not guarantee that a nearby member will see, accept or respond to an alert, or that help will arrive in time.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Raise false, fake or malicious SOS alerts, or otherwise misuse the emergency features.
  • Harass, threaten, defame or endanger any person, or post unlawful, hateful or harmful content.
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
  • Post spam or scams, or content that infringes another person’s rights.
  • Hack, disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape or overload the Service.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant JanRaksh a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content within the Service so it can function. You are solely responsible for what you share and confirm you have the right to share it.

8. Communities and volunteers

Communities, volunteers and helpers on JanRaksh are independent members — not employees or agents of JanRaksh. We are not responsible for the conduct, advice or actions of any member, and interactions between members are at your own discretion and risk.

9. Your data and privacy

How we collect, use, store and protect your information — including your verified details and location — is explained in full in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to those practices.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as UIDAI (for Aadhaar verification), map and location providers, and app stores. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

11. Intellectual property

The JanRaksh name, logo, app, design and content (other than user content) are owned by JanRaksh and protected by law. You may not copy, modify or use them without our written permission.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that alerts will always be delivered or acted upon.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JanRaksh and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, including delays or failures in emergency assistance.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold JanRaksh harmless from any claims or damages arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party rights.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service. You may stop using JanRaksh and request account deletion at any time — see our Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and continued use of the Service means you accept the changes.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at [City], India.
